Jenny McDonagh
What I specialise in
Self-esteem & confidence
Supporting people who struggle with self-doubt, low self-worth, self-criticism, or imposter feelings.
Relationship difficulties
Helping individuals navigate challenges within romantic, family, or other important relationships.
Attachment difficulties
Exploring how past experiences, relationships, or significant life events may continue to affect your present-day thoughts, emotions, and relationships.
About me
I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP, with a first class BSc in Counselling. I'm currently working towards a certificate in Anti-Oppressive practice. I work with individuals aged 18 and over, including trainee counsellors on the diploma programme.
Experience
I have a private practice in Binfield and have volunteered as a counsellor for a local mental health charity for the last few years, supporting adults and young people in our community. I have worked with a wide range of clients and problems, including grief, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity and stress.
What I offer
I offer a therapeutic space where you can be heard without judgement. I work with people from all backgrounds, each bringing their own story and challenges.
I believe that in the right conditions and with the necessary support people can draw on their own internal resources and capacity for growth. The therapeutic relationship offers a consistent compassionate space in which you can explore your experiences safely. I offer weekly 50 minute sessions, either in a quiet, confidential setting near Bracknell or online. These can be either open-ended or time-limited, depending on your needs.
I am currently only working with adults within my private practice.
Approach and orientation
My approach blends humanistic and psychodynamic ideas. We'll explore the emotional, relational and environmental influences that shape your wellbeing. If it feels helpful, we can explore how past relationships or events might still be affecting what's happening beneath the surface. The aim of our time together is to enhance self-awareness and understanding about yourself, your relationships, emotional responses, thought processes and behaviours. You will develop a deeper understanding of the factors impacting your experience and over time, a more meaningful, grounded way of being with yourself and others and greater sense of control in your life.
